We have had a “parent
volunteer” organization in the past but this basically boils down to formality.
We consider middle school a little less formal than elementary schools in terms
of parent involvement. As long as parents have been cleared through our
background checks/volunteer training, they’re always more than welcome to join
us at school to help out.
Here is information on how
you can volunteer for our schools and have a background check processed:
Parent must fill out a background check form for Vicki Faulkner
at the Community Education Center (red brick building beside the high school).
Ms. Faulkner can also email the form to you or to a school, and you can fill it
out and send it back to her. Here is her email address:
Ms. Faulkner is even willing to help you fill the form out over the phone if you
can't make it to the Community Education center during working hours or if you
live out of the county. After the background check is submitted, and the results
return and you are cleared, she will add your name to the master volunteer list.
It can take from one day to 2 weeks to get the background check back. That list
is sent to every principal, secretary and all sports coaches. There is no cost
for the volunteer, the district pays the fee.
are some of the main areas where we can really use parent help. In all cases,
you can contact: (Mr. McIntire-
Michael.firstname.lastname@example.org ) or Donna
Williams (school bookkeeper-
email@example.com) to help
- Parents to help with our 9-week Honor Roll
parties. Parents help serve the “treats” for
recipients on the day we reward students. Our first will be the week
after fall break in
- Parents to help make copies in the copier
room for teachers.
Parents to help coordinate other parents to
help recognize our teachers through meals,
dessert days, etc.
- ANY 8th grade parent who wishes to
coordinate the end-of-year 8th grade dance…this is
BIG and school administration does NOT coordinate/plan/oversee any of
this. Parents of
8th graders- You want a dance for your kids at the end of the
year? It is up to you to plan
-Boxtops for Education
Every year we reward the
honor roll students with parties at the end of each nine (9) weeks. We usually
have an ice cream party, donut party, and pizza party during the year. We have
also used the money for other student rewards as needed. The money generated
goes into the Parent/Volunteer Organization at our school.
The class in each grade who
turns in the most labels will win a pizza/drink party at the end of each drive.
There are two drives during the year. One will begin October 1 and end October
26. The other will begin February 1 and end February 22. There will be
announcements at the beginning of each drive to remind students to start turning
This year, our goal is to
raise $1000 for student rewards. Here are three easy ways you can help:
