Wow! Hard to believe 2 1/2 more days to go.
Monday, we will be going to the bowling alley in the morning. I think we need to be there at 9:00. You are welcome to come watch.

Tuesday, there will not be school for students because of the election day. It will be a teacher work day.

Wednesday, May 23rd, we will have our carnival during the morning. At 1:00 p.m. there will be the intermediate awards program. You should have already received a note if your child is receiving an award.

On Thursday, May 24th, we will dismiss at 11:30. Report cards will be sent home on Thursday.

Hope you had a great Mother’s Day weekend!

We are in the final days. There probably won’t be any more homework the rest of the year, but we will be doing reading and math activities at school.

Field Day is Thursday, May 17th at 9:00 a.m. In case it rains, we will have field day on Monday, May 21, 2012 in the afternoon.

We will be going bowling on Monday, May 21st in the morning. Although parents will not be allowed to bowl, you may meet us out there and watch if you’d like to join us.

There will not be school for students on May 22, 2012 due to the election.

The carnival will be Wednesday morning, May 23 in the morning. We will be eating a picnic lunch outside. We will be taking the school lunch outside that day. The students will go through the lunch line and pick up their trays as usual.
The awards program will be Wednesday, May 23 at 1:00. You will be notified if your student is receiving an award.

Please remember that Thursday, May 24th will dismiss at 11:30.

We will begin the KPREP test on Monday morning. We will be doing the reading on Monday and Tuesday and the math on Wednesday and Thursday.
Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep and eats a good breakfast either at home or at school. It is a proven fact that eating breakfast helps one to perform better.

We will be sending home a permission slip in the next day or two about going to the Bowling Alley on May 21, 2012. The cost will be $5.50. Please watch for the note, and return it as soon as possible.

Your student should have brought home a note yesterday about the third grade carnival on May 23, 2012. There was a request for small prizes for the games. Mrs. Maners, the room mother from Mrs. Rush’s class, will be organizing this event, but she lots of help.

Please remember that the students will be out of school on May 22nd because of the election.

The awards program will be on Wednesday, May 23rd in the afternoon for the third through fifth grade. You will be notified if your child is to receive an award.

The last day for students will be Thursday, May 24, 2012. Students will be dismissed at 11:30. I am assuming there will be a brunch served that morning, but I do not have the details.

We have finished our reading books, so we will have a variety of reading homework this week. Please check the agendas for more information each day.

Review! Review! Review! We are reviewing as we continue to learn new content. Please continue to have your student practice multiplication. It is really slowing them down when it comes to doing problem solving.

Next week, we will be reading Home-Grown Butterflies. It’s a non-fiction genre that I think the students will enjoy reading.

We will not be taking a practice spelling test on the computers next week. The lab is closed while they enter the students portfolios into the server.

Thanks to all the parents that sent snacks on Friday. The students enjoyed the refreshments!

We will be participating in Young Author’s Day on Monday. The students will be attending an assembly and then returning to the classroom to write their own stories. Their stories will be acted out later in the afternoon by a mime.

We have already had our Easter Egg hung courtesy of Cedar Ridge!
We will have a refreshment time at 1:30 on Friday. Students may bring eggs to pass out and snacks to share!

In math, we completed our time unit and next week, we will be reviewing solid shapes and lines–third grade style! :0

We are working on elapsed time in math. There are a few students still struggling with telling time to the minutes and the concepts are getting harder. Please take a few minutes each night to work with your student in telling time and with multiplication.

Reminder that there is no school on Friday, March 16, 2012. This day has been set aside for KEA meetings.

Yearbook orders are due on Friday, March 23, 2012.

Report Cards will go home on March 19, 2012.

We have already completed one week of the final grading period. Students really need to stay focused and work hard. State testing will be during the last weeks of school. I was a little disappointed with the spelling tests scores today for the majority of the class. Please remember that spelling lists are always sent home on the first day of each week.
