This week:
Math:
We are working on: Writing equations for subtraction story problems
Reviewing the concepts of [long-short] [tall - short]
and [most - fewest]
Practicing positional words with our paper spiders and
our spider book
Counting to 100 by ones and tens
Reviewing 2D and 3D shapes
ELA:
We are working on: CVC words and changing the middle vowel to
create new words
Phonics – The letter Q and combination Qu
which has a ‘kw’ sound and is underlined with
an arc.
Sight words: Using music by Heidi to help reinforce
sight words and alphabet sounds
Using iPods and iPads also to reinforce sight words
Writing: We are working on our final draft of our
persuasive piece for our technology writing
plan. We still have to act our animals and
use a web cam to create a movie.
We rotate writing our names on lined paper
with writing numbers 1 -20 daily.

Review of Positional Words
Using positional words to name an object location
Writing numbers from 1 to 20
In Writing: Persuasive/Argumentative Communication
We are working on a writing piece about
animals.
We are also working on writing sentences.
ELA: We are using word ladders and word boxes to
isolate middle sounds and for phoneme substitutions.
On Friday to honor Dr. Seuss’s Birthday we will have CAMP READ A LOT!
YOUR CHILD IS BRINGING HOME INFORMATION TODAY! IT IS GOING TO BE SO MUCH FUN!!!
School will not be in session on President’s Day. I hope all of you enjoyed your snow day on Tuesday.
Our third spelling test will be tomorrow, February 16, 2012. Students are taking their English/Language Arts Common Assessment four this week.

Our Valentine’s Day party is Scheduled for Friday, February 10th at 2:00.
Our class would like to say thank you to all of our caregivers who are sending in party supplies for our SUNDAES. YUM! YUM! Please remember to send in a decorated shoe box or bag for your child’s valentine holder.

We will have our first spelling test next week. Students will bring home their list on Monday. They should practice each night. We will have a test on Friday.
The list will have two nonsense words. We need to practice these words in order to improve our sound fluency.

Thursday, December 15th is pajama day!
Please do not send your child in one piece pajamas. Our party is also this day. Due to PE time we will start around 2:15. Thank you for working with your child at home.
