Steps for Success

The third nine weeks has ended. Now is the time to buckle down, and stay on track. This science class is required, so if you don’t make the grade… As always, if you need help, just ASK!!!

As I have told you, this is crunch time.  The grade period ends Friday.  Have you checked you grades and corrected mistakes.  Bad grades hurt you!

I can describe pH and identify acids and bases.

I can identify the parts of a chemical reaction and describe what occurs during a reaction.

I can define Isotopes and identify the atomic differences between them.

I can identify and construct atomic decay reactions.

I can define half-life.

I can use half-life to determine the age of a radioactive sample.

I can describe the Bohr model.

I can create Bohr models for elements using the periodic table.

I can define and identify ionic, covalent and hydrogen bonds of compounds.

I can describe the properties of compounds with each type of bond.

I can describe the chemical nature of water.

I can identify and describe several of the properties of water.

I can calculate the density of regular solid objects.

I can calculate the density of irregular solid objects and liquids.

I can describe the arrangement of matter in regards to the three states of matter.

I can describe the relationships of volume, pressure and temperature in gases.

I can describe the parts of an atom and the individual properties of each part.

I can calculate the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in an atom.
