Welcome (back) to our “no senior-itis” zone
Sociology–Finishing up distribution of wealth, hidden rules, social class, and discovering whether or not you would survive that 600 million dollar lottery winning that everyone was after! The research tells me many of you would be broke within 10 years. We will look at the research and case studies.
Law and Justice–Torts, tort reform, the ‘civil suit’ process, and why you wouldn’t necessarily want to sue the perpetually-hopeful 600 million dollar winners in my sociology classes.
HMM-Digital Documentaries! We are creating digital documentaries on a post-1945 event of your choice (within reason). Rubric to follow, as well as digital fun. As we wind down the year, we will have our version of the Oscar’s, HMM style, watching your productions.
Political Science-We are picking our spots to go hard at curriculum and then relenting as we wind down. KY state testing will interrupt us several times over the next few weeks. More in class on Monday as we move into a new chapter.

Youth Day is next week. I’ll give instructions in class, and concentrate on some things to think about. Also, we will finish up our study on human trafficking this week and move to our next unit early next week.
We have lots of events coming up this spring. It’s difficult to keep up with all of them. Please be sure to visit Ms. Pride’s blog to get an update on what’s upcoming as we move toward spring break and our final push toward May and graduation.
Peace,
jp

Howdy everyone!
Don’t forget about our upcoming Youth Day. We are preparing for our school-wide election, and will be sending everyone out to their respective offices soon.
Plus, I need to see your signed report cards/midterms. Mom and Dad need to know your grade, and this is my assurance that they’ve seen it.
Police and Fire Explorers schedules are posted outside my classroom, as is the Teen Court schedule. They are there for your convenience.
We are moving quickly through political issues in Political Science, and looking forward to the upcoming election. History and Mass Media is neck-deep in cold-war controversy (and there’s lots of good stuff there…), Sociology is transitioning to our next unit, but we will continue to use culture as the thread that runs through our next topics. Lastly, Law and Justice is looking at the various stages of the trial process, and examining the death penalty vs. life imprisonment.
More in class! Miss a day, miss a lot

We've used several resources the last few weeks with our USA Today resources. I've tried to update in class, but I'd like to give you a couple more…
