May 14-18

This week we will begin to wrap things up in the 7th grade. Monday, we have our 7th grade Reading Counts auction, Tuesday and Wednesday we will work on “concept comics” in class, Thursday we will complete the GMADE, and Friday I will collect textbooks.

May 7-11

K-PREP Schedule

Monday: Reading Parts A and B
Tuesday: Reading Part C
Wednesday: Math Parts A and B
Thursday: Math Part C, Science Part A
Friday: Science Parts B and C

Bring calculators and/or protractors for extra credit on Wednesday and Thursday!

April 30-May 4

Testing begins next week… remember to eat breakfast, get plenty of rest, and focus!

April 23-27

All classes: Prep for KPREP! This week’s focus will be on statistical graphing and proportional relationships. Monday, we will revisit the concept of histograms from last week’s 4th period related to our “Greed” data. Tuesday and Wednesday, we use a graph to analyze proportional relationships and speed. Thursday and Friday we will investigate the relationship between equations and their graphs.

April 16-20

All classes: KPREP testing is just around the corner, so we have quite a few things to cover in the next few weeks. This week all classes will be investigating angle relationships and classifications Monday-Wednesday. Thursday and Friday we will play “Greed”, a game that allows students to create frequency charts and examine concepts in probability.

Quiz Friday!

All classes: quiz over formulas. First period, study textbook sections 6-1 to 6-6 and be able to find the perimeter/area of irregular figures. Second through seventh period, study 8-3, 8-5, 8-6, along with 9-2, surface area of prisms, and area/perimeter of irregular figures.

Everyone should know the basic formulas for area of rectangles and triangles. I realize this quiz sounds like a lot, but you will have most formulas given to you… know where to substitute, follow order of operations, and you will be fine!

April 2-6

All classes will have a formulas quiz this Friday. Grade sheets are being sent with students Wednesday in class so that they may complete any missing assignments prior to midterm. All missing/late work MUST be turned in by Friday. No exceptions.

March 26-30

Pre-Algebra: We will spend Monday and Tuesday completing and scoring the Kid City Park ORQ, and begin working with volume formulas on Wednesday. Pay special attention to capitalized/lower-case variables and their meanings.

Math: More work this week with formulas, this week including trapezoids. Beginning Wednesday, we will complete an in-depth open response over the application of formulas and pricing. Students will be given a rubric prior to completing, and we will score our responses in groups.

March 19-23

Pre-Algebra: We will continue to work with formulas this week–circles, rectangles, parallelograms, and triangles. We will complete a self-scoring open response on Thursday, further review circles Friday, and back up for some Pi Day-related extra credit.

Math: Boot Camp is back. Bring your equations A-game!

March 12-15

Don’t forget… March 14th is Pi Day!
