WEEK OF APRIL 23, 2012
We will continue our review for the state K-PREP test that starts the week of May 7. Students will be reviewing by selecting: the appropriate meaning for a word that has multiple meanings. DOK 2; will interpret literal and non-literal meanings of words or phrases, based on context; will locate key ideas or information in a passage, make predictions, draw conclusions, make generalizations or make inferences based on what is read. This week we will be working with prefixes and suffixes. We will also be reviewing strategies and tips for taking test.

This week we will focus on writing an argumentative essay which will include supporting claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence.

WEEK OF MARCH 12, 2012
Today, we will go to the library and choose a Reading Counts book to read independently.
Tuesday, we will focus on how to answer short-answer response questions given on Think Link Test.
Wednesday and Thursday will be spent reviewing narrative essays with reading strategies and tips on finding the correct answers for identifying author’s purpose, identifying the genre, drawing conclusion, making inferences, identifying details, generalizations, fact and opinion and using context clues.
