If you didn’t purchase a yearbook but wish to do so now, stop by the office. There are a few extra yearbooks that can be purchased for $10.
Field day is May 18. Kindergarten graduation for my class is May 23 at 1:45 in the library.
Please have your child bring his/her backpack and homework folder to school every day. We still have lots of papers and other items coming and going each day, so students will definitely need backpacks & folders to keep up with everything.
Please write your child’s first & last name on his or her belongings brought to school — jackets, lunchbags, backpacks, etc. Our lost & found is full of items that get thrown away each year because no one claimed them and we were unable to identify the owner.
Upcoming dates:
May 18 Field Day
May 22 No school — Primary Election Day
May 23 Kindergarten graduation @ 1:45
May 24 Last day of school (dismissal @ 11:30)
Field trip this Friday, April 20th to Disney on Ice at Rupp Arena. We leave school at 8:30 and should return around 2:00.
It looks like we’re all set for an egg hunt on Friday. Students may want to bring a pail/bucket, basket, bag, etc., for that activity. We’ll also be doing some math activities with jelly beans, making an Easter Bunny hat, and just generally wondering if Spring Break will ever begin !!
Northside is no longer requiring clear or mesh backpacks, which is good news if your student’s current backpack is in bad shape. Any backpack will do now, so it isn’t necessary to buy a replacement if you’ve already got one at home.
All field trip forms are in and we’re good to go. Thanks for getting those in so quickly!
On April 20th we’ll be going on our last field trip to Rupp Arena — we’ll be seeing Disney on Ice Toy Story 3. There is no cost, thanks to Northside’s PTO. We’ll leave at 8:30 and return at 2:00. If you have not already turned in your permission slip, please do so as soon as possible. Due to seating arrangements by Rupp Arena, only students and teachers will be able to attend. Please do no send money with children to purchase anything. We won’t be stopping at a gift shop.
There will be no school on Friday, March 16, for KEA day.
The third nine weeks grading period ended last week. Report cards will go home next Monday, with parent teacher conferences to be scheduled shortly after. More information regarding that date/time will be coming soon!
We’re struggling to get back on track after the time change. Losing that hour over the weekend made for a very long Monday. Please be sure your child has a regular bedtime. It’s tough for students to work at their full potential if they’re struggling to stay awake.
Jump Rope for Heart has been rescheduled to Wednesday afternoon at 1:00.
Here are some dates/info I know many of you are interested in …
May 24th is the last day for students
May 25th is graduation (staff will work this day)
May 29th is the last day for staff
No school on election day, May 22nd (staff will work this day)
*The district will continue to buy school supplies for children as they have in the past.
Please check out Northside’s homepage — a photo of our classroom door is featured!! You won’t want to miss seeing that. To celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday, we took pictures of students wearing the Lorax’s mustache. Fun stuff!
Our music program went off without a hitch on Thursday — thanks to those who supported students by attending the program and visiting our book fair.
