FIELD DAY is Friday May 18th. Class events will run from 8:30-11:00. Students will be back outside after lunch for track events and class tug of war. Please wear tennis shoes and put on some sunscreen, expecting warm weather.
MAY 7-11
PE
We will practice some of our events for Field Day. Field Day will be on May 18th.

April 30-May 4
PE
We will wrap up all fitness testing this week. Any students who missed previous tests will get a chance to finish. Fifth grade is finished and will begin our kickball unit.
Health
This week we will discuss the FITT principle. We will define and discuss each part.
April 23-27
Health
No health this week due to fitness testing.
PE
Fitness testing will continue this week. We will finish the sit and reach box, and depending on the weather students will run the 1/2 mile or complete the shuttle run inside.
April 16-20
Health
We will begin our unit on fitness. We will compare/contrast aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Next as a class we will list ways we get exercise when we are not at school.
PE
We will begin our spring fitness testing. Students will perform 60 second sit-up test. I will try to get each students weight as well.
April 2-6
Health
Finish unit on nutrition. I will introduce new ideas for next unit on fitness.
PE
We will continue tball unit. Grades k-3 will hit off the tee again this week. I will pitch underhand to grades 4-5. We will focus on fielding this week.
Second round of fitness testing is coming up soon after spring break. We will test on sit-ups, shuttle run, 1/2 mile, and sit and reach.
March 26-30
HEALTH
We will review our unit on nutrition and then do a light cardio workout.
PE
This week we will begin playing games. Students will learn how to run the bases after hitting the ball. Students will learn what to do in different game situations while on the bases (tagging up). I will stop the game to help the base runners when it’s necessary. All grades will use the tee this week. Next week I will pitch underhand for grades 3, 4 and 5.
We are having great weather to get outside and exercise. I hope all of my students are taking advantage of it.
MARCH 19-23
HEALTH
Students will analyze calories in vs. calories out in their diet log.
PE
We will begin our baseball unit. All grades will work on proper fundamentals of hitting. All grades will use a tee. Basic rules of running bases and how to obtain outs will be taught.
March 12-15
PE
We will finish our unit on basketball with a three vs three tournament. Traveling and all rules taught will be enforced. K-1 will work on shooting skills.
HEALTH
We will take a look at Food Plate. We will discuss where foods fall into their food groups. We will also look at how much of each food group is recommended each day. We will analyze the dinner the students ate the night before. Key to healthy diet is balance!!!
Congratulations to all students who contributed and participated in JRFH. Students did a great job raising money for the American Heart Association.
March 5-9
PE
We will continue with basketball unit. Students will work on dribbling again this week. Students will have to dribble through cones keeping ball close to body. If we have enough time students will work on lay ups.
Health
No health this week due to snow.
Jump rope for heart has been moved to next Wednesday.
