This week we have been reviewing for the KPREP test. Please have you student review their science folder and math notebook. Ask your student to tell you about all the different reading strategies they have learned this school year to help them comprehend material that they are reading.

This week we have been reviewing for the KPREP assessment. Have you child review this weekend their Science notes, Math notebook. Ask them all the different strategies we have used this school year to understand the content we have read.

Reading: We will be working with compound words, drawing conclusions to improve comprehension as well as reading about our senses.
Spelling- Compound Words
Math- Continue Fractions
Science- Writing Hypothesis and testing it.
Reading- Monitoring Assessments this week.
Review of comprehension Strategies sequence, main idea, compare and contrast.
Math- Multiplying fractions and decimals
Science- Friction
Reading- We will continue learning about adding endings to words, contractions and sequence of material read
Please read each night with your student.
Science- Student’s are learning about weather. They are tracking weather and learning what warm fronts and cold fronts do to our daily weather.
Math- Fractions. Student’s are learning to compare fractions by drawing fractional pieces
Reading-
In reading this week we will be working on reading words with long e. We will also be using the reading strategy of sequencing. This is an excellent strategy to use at home when reading with your student. Key words, first, next, then and finally. Stories this week will be focused on nature and how people react to their surroundings.
Science- WATER CYCLE and WEATHER

Please look at notes each night. We are adding new information about weather and the water cycle each day.
Math- Fractions
Study vocabulary in math notebook. Mrs. Hunt will be giving a quiz each week on ALL vocabulary that student’s have learned all year This week the test will be on Friday. Next week it will be a pop quiz.
Ask your student to show you how to find equivalent fractions:
1/3= ______
Multiply both the numerator and denominator by the same number
1/3 X 2= 2/6 so 1/3 is equivalent to 2/6
