This week in kindergarten:
We have had a lot of fun this week. We read a lot of stories about summer vacation and the end of the school year. We enjoyed a kindergarten fun day and our field day with Mr. Fields. We have continued to practice some of our math skills and have made some end of the year crafts. On Monday we will be having our PTO Sock Hop. Then on Wednesday our awards program is scheduled for 10:15. I want to invite all parents to attend.

This week in kindergarten:
Phonics: We worked on the /ee/ and /ar/ sounds.
Math: We reviewed making 10, broke down numbers, and took our last math common assessment.
Reading: We read the story “The House that Tony Lives In.” We talked about different jobs and how everyone works together. We also took our last reading assessment. I was very proud of how everyone did on the test.
Sight Words: We are continuing to practice our words. This was our last week for our word lists. Keep practicing at home.

This week in kindergarten:
Phonics: We worked on sneaky “e”. We practiced identifying and reading our words with sneaky e. We also made our own sneaky e puppet.
Math: Students continued to work on addition facts. We began finding the missing addend in problems.
Reading: Our story this week was called “Building Beavers.” We learned all about beavers and their habitats.
Sight words: We are still reviewing all of the sight words that we have learned this year. Keep practicing.

This week in kindergarten:
Phonics: We worked on the /oo/ digraph. We discussed both sounds that can be made with these two letters.
Math: We worked on telling time to the hour and half hour. We also reviewed addition and subtraction.
Reading: We read “Old MacDonald has a Woodshop.” We learned about different kinds of tools and how they are used. We talked about who makes things that we need and how we get them.
Sight words: We are reviewing the sight words that we have learned this year.

This week in kindergarten:
Phonics: We worked on the /ck/ digraph.
Reading: Our story was “Homes around the World.” We talked about different types of homes and practiced describing our own homes.
Math: We worked with measurements and recipes. We also reviewed addition and subtraction.
Sight words: We began reviewing all of our sight words.

This week in kindergarten:
Phonics: We learned about the digraph th. We talked about it being voiced and unvoiced.
Math: We continued with our subtraction review. Students are doing a great job with their problem solving.
Reading: We read a story called “On the Move.” We finished talking about the many different types of transportation. We talked about where we live and compared it to other parts of the world.
Sight Words: We continued to work on come & where.
Today is our Easter Egg hunt. Everyone is very excited. I want to thank everyone for sending in eggs.

This week in kindergarten:
Phonics: Open vowel words. (so, we, go, he, hi, a, flu, etc.)
Math: We have been working with dimes, counting by 10s, and changing pennies for dimes. We also continued to build on our addition skills.
Reading: Our story was “The Little Engine that Could.” We talked about working hard to accomplish anything we want. We made our own train pictures and discussed the setting and plot of the story.
Sight words: We continued with said, what, and was. Please keep practicing.
I sent home a note about our Easter Egg hunt. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Also if you have not returned your child’s report card folder, please do that as soon as possible.

This week in kindergarten:
Phonics: We worked on the letter Q. Students had a lot of fun making our classroom quilt.
Reading: This week we talked about different careers. Our story was “Messenger, Messenger.” It was fun seeing everyone dressed up in their outfits today. I loved seeing what everyone wants to be when they grow up.
Math: We continued to work on addition. We reviewed shapes with the geoboards. We also reviewed putting our numbers in order and recognizing numbers quickly.
Sight words: We introduced said, what, & was.
Today was a fun day. We had a special visitor in our classroom that made a huge mess. The kids loved it and he left us some treats.

This week in kindergarten.
Phonics: We learned the letter W.
Reading: We read “Mayday! Mayday!. We had a lot of fun learning about different types of weather and rescue people. It was very fitting after all of the different kinds of weather we have been having. We learned about the water cycle and made our own rain in a bag.
Math: We continued to build on our addition. We also reviewed other skills that we worked on earlier in the year.
Sight words: We continued to work on color words. Next week we will be introducing three new words.
If you have not sent in your permission slip and money for our field trip, please do so as soon as possible.

This week in kindergarten:
Phonics: We learned the letter X. We practiced the letter and sound.
Math: We reviewed shapes and using geoboards. We also continued to work on our addition problems.
Reading: We read “Max Takes the Train.” We learned all about different forms of transportation. Students drew pictures, wrote sentences, and discussed different ways of traveling. In the story Max was taking different forms of transportation to go get a “Chocolate Whamburger.” Today we made our own Chocolate Whamburger. The kids enjoyed our treat.
Sight words: We started reviewing color words, please continue to practice all of our words.
